Traditional the marital bed had a bed-head, with two bedposts representing the married couple embracing. After Nuristan was converted to Islam this tradition died out. Turquoise Mountain Arts found an old carver who recreated the first Nuristani bedposts for nearly two centuries. The bedposts are either life size re-creations of the only two bedposts in Kabul museum or half size reproductions.
