The great pillars of Nuristan form the facades of public buildings. The columns and capitals echo the Hellenistic style brought to Nuristan by the armies of Alexander the Great. Millennia of animist craftsmen have reworked the tradition, carving bold sinuous symbols deeply into the cedar wood. The pillars are exquisite additions to any building entrance.
