Turquoise Mountain

Turquoise Mountain is an organization  based in Kabul, specializing in urban regeneration, business development, and education in traditional arts and architecture. We seek to provide jobs, skills, and a renewed sense of national pride to Afghan men and women.

In our Centre for Traditional Afghan Arts and Architecture and our project to restore  the historic commercial centre of Kabul, Murad Khane, we embed crafts and conservation within education, business opportunities, and cultural heritage. Our Schools of Calligraphy, Ceramics, and Woodworking create opportunities for artisans to develop their skills, exchange ideas and practices with international artists and craftsmen, and reach new international markets.

We preserve Afghan traditional arts by training the next generation of men and women artisans, teaching them to improve the range and quality of Afghan craft products through new technologies and designs.
