Saleh fine Silks

Due to three decades of war and conflict all industrial infrastructure of our country, Afghanistan, has been dilapidated.

Weaving of silk, an old industry of the people of ancient Herat has also been destroyed. For the purpose of restoring this ancient industry of Afghanistan, Saleh Muhammad Facoor, son of Abdu Rahim from Faryab province of Afghanistan at the age of 18 in the year 1998 in Peshawar without any teachers and money started working on it. By the help of international leading organizations, with his knowledge, his perseverance, Saleh Muhammad Facoor has regenerated the afghan skill of weaving silk with handloom and natural dye. In 2008, Turquoise Mountain heard about his endeavors, and decided to help finance the set up of his silk’ workshop in Kabul. Eight looms are now used for producing scarves and shawls. The beautiful quality of skill is used by several Afghan designers, for making embroidered scarves and shawls.  On the Turquoise Mountain Arts web site, you can discover some beautiful fabrics that his workshop has produced under Turquoise Mountain,Tarsian & Blinkley,  Zarif Design brands.
