Boumi Boumi draws on the demands of Western markets and the capacities of Afghan culture to create a luxury line of houseware and accessories. Boumi products are made with Afghan-grown cotton. Hand-embroidered pieces are made by women from Ghazni, Wardak, Kandahar, Bamiyan and Jalalabad Provinces, incorporating many aspects of local cultures. Boumi launched its workshop in 2005. The company has expanded rapidly from its initial staff of 15 women and 3 men to a workforce today of 250 women and 50 men.
